About me
I was born in 1981 and grew up on a farm in the Eastern Cape. I am a full-time freelance artist and live on a smallholding north of Pretoria with my husband, mother, two kittens, three dogs, and an incalculable amount of chickens.
I studied visual art at the University of South Africa, and after attending short courses in painting, drawing, computer graphics, and children's book illustration, I received a postgraduate diploma in museum and heritage studies from the University of Pretoria. I hold a Master's degree in Visual Art from Unisa. Since 2008 I have worked as a part-time freelance illustrator for major publishing companies including Tafelberg, Macmillan, Oxford University Press, Shuter & Shooter, and Pearson, and contributed to over 300 textbooks and readers published in seven Southern African countries.

My artworks form part several collections. I have presented five solo exhibitions, three shared solo exhibitions, and taken part in over forty group shows. My works have been awarded places in Absa l’Atelier, Sasol New Signatures, The Sanlam Portrait Award, and the Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Award. I was named one of ArtBank’s most prolific women artists in 2024 and one of the ten most on-the-rise South African artists on Art.co.za’s 2023 Watchlist. I am currently working towards several group exhibitions while I teach artists individually, write tutorial material for Unisa, and adjudicate art competitions on national level. Somewhere between all this I try to find time to be a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, furbaby mom, friend, and reluctant homesteader.
